Requirements for Associates of the LSC

The core business of the Language Support Centre is translation, so, if you are to share our brand, it follows that you must also share our policy and practice on translation:

1. You must be a native-speaker translator who only translates into your native language(s)
2. You must commit to having all your translations go through our Independent Peer Review process.

But naturally we must also want to have you as an Associate! So we will need to have some experience of working with you, getting to know you, and seeing what your translations and reviews are like. So you must be a part of our network.

Exceptions

There are two exceptions to the above conditions:

1. If you are a certified translator and a customer asks for a certified translation (e.g. for legal reasons) into a language for which you are certified, you may of course take on such work even though it is not your native language.
2. If a customer's own deadlines or confidentiality requirements prevent you from submitting a translation to us for independent peer review.

However, these are exceptions, and to protect the brand, both we and your customer must be notified in writing at the time when you make such exceptions.
